Structured documents reuse and the structure for training material: preview

The inSGML-project focuses on developing methods for SGML-based standardization on the industrial organizations. This report descibes the starting point of one of the project’s focuses, organized as a case study B: reuse of structured documents and the structure for training material. Main purpose of the report is to discuss the main consepts related to the research, and to give a short review of the previous research conducted on the domain. The review is preliminary, and consists of the relevant research conducted on the case organization. The main concepts discussed here are: reuse, technical documentation, techical manual, SGML, DTD, training material, and information filtering. The review consists of 10 research projects on the case organization. The review is organized to the themes of research, consisting training materials, manuals, product data management, and other reserach themes. On the further research we aim to focus on the concept definition by continuing the study of the previous research of the reuse, and starting the reseach on the training methods, the processing of structured documents and the relation of metadata to these on the domain. The actual field research continues with the manual content analysis, the preliminary analysis of the training materials contents on the organization, and with the preliminary requirements definition for training material’s content structure. inSGML-project / AKa Report, Document n:o 007 3 (15) University of Jyväskylä 23.03.2000 _______________________________________________________________________________________
